John Joseph Morrow

John Joseph Morrow was a consultant physician at Crosshouse Hospital, Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, and a former chairman of Ayrshire and Arran Health Board. He was born in Glasgow, the son of John Morrow, a sheet metal worker. He was educated at St Mungo’s Academy, Glasgow, and then went on to study medicine at Glasgow University. He qualified MB ChB in 1956.

From 1957 to 1959 he carried out his National Service in the Royal Army Medical Corps. On his return to civilian life he was a senior house officer at Stobhill General Hospital, Glasgow. He then became a registrar at the Western Infirmary in Glasgow and a Medical Research Council research fellow in the department of medicine. From 1966 to 1969 he was a senior registrar at the Western Infirmary.

In 1969 he was appointed as a consultant physician at Ballochmyle Hospital, Mauchline. He later moved to Crosshouse Hospital, Kilmarnock.

Outside medicine he enjoyed golf.

In 1964 he married Clare Patricia Delaney (‘Pat’), the daughter of a telephone engineer. They had two sons (John and Michael), a daughter (Clare) and five grandchildren.
