Esmé Maria Wren

Esmé Maria Wren was a consultant physician in Brighton and Lewes. She was born in Liverpool, the daughter of Maurice Clement Wren, a customs and excise officer, and Winifred Wren née Wilson. She was educated at a convent school in Liverpool, and then went on to study medicine in the city. She gained her MB ChB in 1945.

She was a house physician and house surgeon at Liverpool Royal Infirmary in 1946, and then became a medical registrar at the National Heart Hospital. In 1951 she was a medical registrar in Liverpool, and a research fellow there the following year. In 1954 she was appointed to her consultant post in Brighton and Lewes.

At the time of her election to the fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians in 1972 she listed horse facing, golf, tennis, philately and antiques.

In 1955 she married Hubert de Brooke Jones. They had no children.
