Anthony Edward Stevens

Anthony Edward Stevens was a consultant physician at Maidstone Hospital, Kent. He was born in Leamington, Warwickshire, the son of Edward Walter Stevens, an inspector of taxes. He was educated at Banbury Grammar School and then studied medicine at Charing Cross Hospital Medical School, qualifying MB BS in 1952.

He held junior posts at Horton General Hospital, Banbury, and Charing Cross Hospital, and then carried out his National Service (from 1953 to 1955) as a medical officer with the British Army of the Rhine.

Once he had returned to civilian life he was a casualty officer at Charing Cross Hospital, a senior house officer at the West End Hospital for Neurology and a medical registrar at the Canadian Red Cross Memorial Hospital in Taplow. From 1960 to 1962 he was a medical registrar at Central Middlesex Hospital, and from 1962 to 1966 a senior medical registrar at the Royal Free Hospital. In 1966 he became a consultant physician in general medicine in Maidstone.

Outside medicine he enjoyed gardening, camping and DIY.

In 1952 he married Pamela Greta née Edward. They had three children.
