Syed Javed Iqbal

Syed Javed Iqbal was a consultant in biochemical medicine at Leicester Royal Infirmary. Born in Karachi, Pakistan, he was the son of Syed Iqbal Hussain and his wife, Yusuf Jehan. He studied medicine at Dundee University and, after qualifying in 1975, did house jobs at the Ninewells Hospital in Dundee. He then worked as a senior registrar in chemical pathology and metabolic medicine at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital, before being appointed a consultant in biochemical medicine at Leicester Royal Infirmary.

A member of the Association for Clinical Biochemistry, he was also a member of the Bone and Tooth Society of the United Kingdom.

He enjoyed playing sports, especially squash.

In 1987 he married his wife, Shenal, and they had four children. She survived him.
