Brian Cottier

Brian Cottier was chief executive and consultant oncologist at Clatterbridge Centre for Oncology, Wirral. A key figure in cancer services in Merseyside and Cheshire, he played an important role as both a clinician and a manager. He was the head of the National Cancer Analysis Services Team (NATCANSAT), which he had established in 1996.

Born in Birkenhead, he was the son of Frank and Florence Ada Rene Cottier. After attending Birkenhead School, he studied medicine at Liverpool University and medical school. Following junior appointments, he became senior lecturer and honorary consultant in radiotherapy and oncology at Liverpool University before joining the staff of Clatterbridge.

In 1979 he married Linda, who was a qualified nurse and midwife. They had 4 sons. When he died suddenly while on holiday in Devon, Linda and his family survived him.
