Christopher Jonathan Pearce

Christopher Jonathan Pearce was a consultant clinical biochemist at Ipswich Hospital. He was born in Leeds, the son of Bettie and Cyril Herbert Budge Pearce. He was educated at Leeds Modern School and Hertford College, Oxford. He went on to Middlesex Hospital for his clinical studies.

Following his first house appointment with Sir John Nabarro [Munk’s Roll, Vol.XII, web], he decided on a career as an endocrinologist. He held registrar and senior registrar appointments at Westminster Hospital, and then worked with Richard Himsworth in the endocrine research group at the clinical research centre at Northwick Park Hospital. In 1985 he became a senior registrar in clinical chemistry at the Royal Liverpool Hospital

In 1990 he was appointed as a clinical consultant biochemist at Ipswich Hospital. He wrote principally on clinical endocrinology and metabolism.

In 1981 he married Christine Mary Pearce, a hospice matron. At the time of his election to the fellowship he listed golf, chess, windsurfing and music as his hobbies and interests.
