Dorothy McCulloch France

Dorothy McCulloch France was a consultant dermatologist in Crawley and Horsham. She was born Dorothy McCulloch Thompson in Glasgow, the daughter of William Henry Thompson, a motor mechanic, and Agnes Hyslop Thompspn née Love, an office cleaner. She was educated at Hillhead High School and then Glasgow University. She qualified in 1964.

In 1968 she became a registrar in dermatology at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. In 1971 she moved to University College and Whittington hospitals, as a senior registrar in dermatology. Four years later, she was appointed as a consultant dermatologist to Mid Downs District Health Authority, at Crawley and Cuckfield hospitals.

Outside medicine, she enjoyed Scottish country dancing, reading and travel. In 1976 she married Edward Alan France, a retired civil servant. They had no children. He predeceased her.
