Gerald Derek Budhlall

Gerald Derek Budhlall was a consultant physician at Grenada General Hospital in St George’s, Grenada. He was born in Grenada, the son of James Maurice Budhlall, a tanner, and Louie Henrietta Budhlall, a housewife. He was educated at Grenada Boys’ Secondary School, and then went to Guy’s Hospital in London to study medicine, qualifying in 1967.

He held house posts at Guy’s, Bethnal Green and Lewisham hospitals, and then returned to Grenada, where he was a house officer at Grenada General Hospital. In 1973 he was appointed as a consultant physician. He wrote papers on leptospirosis, porphyria and blastomycosis.

In 1968 he married Ann Patricia née Boner, a pharmacist. They had one daughter. At the time of his election to the fellowship of the RCP in 1993 he listed cricket and lawn tennis as his interests.
