John Bethune Walker

John Bethune Walker was professor of medicine at the University of Western Ontario, Canada. The son of Alexander Illingworth Walker, a railway executive, he was educated at London Central Secondary School, Ontario, and subsequently studied medicine at the University of Western Ontario and at the Victoria and Toronto General hospitals. He qualified in 1953.

His junior posts included a general rotating internship, and appointments as an assistant resident in medicine, as a resident, and as a fellow in anatomic pathology. In 1960, he was appointed to the teaching staff of the Victoria Hospital, London, Ontario. From 1969 he was clinical professor of medicine at the University of Western Ontario. He published papers on aneurysm and thrombosis, among other topics.

He married Rita Margaret Wilson in 1953. They had three daughters. At the time of his election to the Fellowship of the College in 1980 he listed photography, boating and sports cars among his interests.
