Margaret Eastwood

Margaret Eastwood was a consultant paediatrician in Chesterfield. She was born in London, the daughter of a political secretary and educated at Wimbledon County School for Girls. She went on to study medicine at the Royal Free School of Medicine for Women.

She completed junior hospital posts at the Royal Free, Great Ormond Street Hospital and at the South London Hospital for Women. She went on to a post as registrar at the Central Middlesex Hospital. She was then a registrar in the outpatients department at Great Ormond Street Hospital, before being appointed as a first assistant at the same hospital. She was then appointed to a consultant paediatrician position in the Chesterfield area.

At the time of her election to the Fellowship of the College in 1977 she listed current affairs, drama, travel and photography among her interests.

She married a fellow doctor, R I Eastwood, in 1959. They had no children. She died of cancer of the pancreas.
