Humphrey Whitmore, MD – “On the 9th February, 1648,” says Wood, “he was actually created doctor of medicine at Oxford, as a member of St Mary’s hall, in virtue of letters addressed to Convocation by Fairfax, the Parliamentary general, which stated that he was a physician of note and eminence in those cities and towns where he had lived, and that he had been a member of both universities.” He was admitted an Honorary Fellow of the College of Physicians in December, 1664.
