Maurice Michael Liberman

Maurice Michael Liberman was a consultant paediatrician at Northwick Park Hospital and St Mark's Hospital Trust. He was born in London, the son of Reuben Sidney Liberman, a tailor, and educated at Northampton Grammar School and later Hackney Downs Grammar School. He went on to the Charing Cross Hospital Medical School.

After house appointments at Harrow and Charing Cross Hospitals, he spent two years National Service in the RAF. In 1963 he was appointed as a senior house officer and later RMO at Queen Elizabeth Hospital for Children. In 1967 he was appointed as paediatric research fellow at the same hospital. From 1968 to 1969 he was a registrar in paediatrics at St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington.

From 1969 he spent one year working in the United States, as a senior resident officer in paediatrics at the Childrens Hospital Medical Center, Boston. He returned to London, as a senior paediatric registrar at St Mary’s Hospital. In 1971 he was appointed to the post of consultant paediatrician at Northwick Park Hospital and St Mark’s Hospital Trust.

He married Myrna (née Gorlov), also a doctor, in 1967 and they had four daughters.
