Thomas Heberden, son of Rev. Thomas Heberden of Exeter, matriculated at Oriel College, Oxford, in 1819. He graduated as B.A. in 1823 and, after medical studies at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital, B.M. in 1827 and D.M. in 1833. He resided in London for the remainder of his life, but it is not certain that he practised, since he held no hospital appointments and omitted to register under the Medical Act of 1858. However, he published a pamphlet On Recent Alterations in Medical Practice in 1860.
