Arthur Herbert Hayes

b.2 April 1875 d.18 May 1951

A. H. Hayes was born in Camberwell. He qualified from St. Bartholomew’s Hospital in 1899, and then acted as assistant physician to the Imperial Yeomanry Hospital at Pretoria. After holding house appointments at the East London Children’s Hospital and St. Bartholomew’s, he took a regular commission in the R.A.M.C. He retired with the rank of major in 1922 and later settled at Claygate in Surrey, becoming assistant medical officer to the Surrey county council for a period of years. Hayes, who was married, died at Claygate.
